AVG, is one of my preferred companies for antivirus protection. I discovered it when searching for a good, free alternative to the expensive Norton antivirus. It has a paid option too, which adds additional protection and features, but the free version fits me. It protects you from viruses, and checks what you download to make sure it is not infested with baddies such as viruses, trojans, and worms. Does anyone else have experience using this antivirus? If you don't have one, i recommend you get one quick because you risk your computer's files and your identity.8)
Well AVG is recommended by me you and anyone else that is awesome. You could also come into consideration of Norton. it has its kinks. One piece of advice though.... Never choose McAfee.
AVG is a good option, No doubt. But why not McAfee ?? I had a very good experience with McAfee before.
I used McAfee a long time ago, about an year back. It was all fine, its engine is fast and light also definitions update packets are smaller compare to any other antivirus. That may be a reason that it fails to catch those annoying nonsense viruses which creates an exe resemble to the directory name, disable the task manager and regedit and leave no door open for you to in.
lol ive dealt with those viruses for a long time. You need to time it right to remove it. Safe mode is your friend also.
McAfee is super annoying. It fails to catch viruses, and it closes every new program I run, then asks if it should close it again next time. It also hogs up my computer, slowing it down much, and windows keep popping up annoying me trying to notify me of things that aren't very important at all. There was a free trial that came with my netbook and i had to uninstall it because messages asking me to buy it were way too common. I think i would go for AVG
I have been using Avast for more than 2 yrs now. No complaints till now. The other thing I like about Avast is the registration holds good for a year. Register with your email once and not be bothered for a year.
One of the problems is that each AV program say they are the very best. (naturally) Usually, but not always the paid version is better and offers more features. Of the free versions I have had very good feed back for Malwarebytes and Threatfire. And for detecting and removing key loggers the Sophos anti-root kit (also free) is hard to beat.
I've used AVG Free for yeeeaaarss and I don't think I've ever had a problem with it. It does the job keeping my computer safe, and that's all I really need it for.
I've used AVG for a long time, but recently switched over to Microsoft Security Essentials and love it. Once in awhile, I'll install AVG if the person prefers it over MSE, but that's their choice!
I like AVG. I use the free version and it is definitely enough for me right now. I think it does what it's supposed to and keeps harmful software off my computer. I've been using it for several years now with no problems and readily recommend it to other people. I can't say the same for Norton. I didn't feel as secure when using Norton and sometimes it seemed as though malware would slip past it. Maybe it's better now.
I've been using AVG since around 2004 and have never looked anywhere else. I use this as well as Spybot S&D to keep my laptop nice and clean. It does a mean job of removing the viruses in emails before placing them in my inbox.
AVG used to be for favorite windows antivirus software, but I switched to Microsoft Security Essentials as soon as it was released. It is perfect! The best part, is I don't have to worry about extra task bars being installed (that really annoys me)

There was once a time that I loved AVG. That was until I realized that it wasn't performing as I thought it was. The program rarely caught viruses and at times I found my computer infected. I would rather use a combo of Malware Bytes and ESET.
