What have other people done for content like this in the past if you don't want to write it for yourself? Where do you find freelance writers etc how much is a fair rate? etc. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
I've never outsourced articles. Members of the community often contribute their articles and knowledge on their own. As such, I have an "Articles" section on all of my forums where informative articles are housed. You may have to get the ball rolling yourself by writing your own articles, but in many niches (at least the ones I'm familiar with) there are a plethora of user-submitted articles.
