Nope. I think they're a bit too much for communities - unless it's a pure off-topic and general chat forum.
I have it depending on what forum I have. If its an proffesional forum then no if its an forum thats not proffesional then yes I might have it if the user wants it.
Don't run a community where it would be suitable. Have used them in the past and usually find that they are very popular at the start and over time that wanes. Not sure I really see much of a benefit for them. Most people would probably end up at MSN, Yahoo or AOL where there are better quality games and more selection. When I did run an arcade, I tried to license some unique games to use but they are very expensive. Most places want $500-$1000 per game for 6 months of licensing.
I had one on Elliquiy, but before I add it back again I want to make sure both SMF Arcade 2.5 and SMF 2.0 are stabilized. It didn't decrease the posting activity on my forum at all.
Nope. It wouldn't really fit in with my site. I know another admin with a similar site to mine that installed one. It was a hit for the first couple months and then that was it.
I have also experienced that the arcade gets used at the beginning and then wanes, but on my site it's just a little extra to keep members around if the forums get a little slow. So far, it's worked pretty well.
I stayed away from them until the latest release of v3arcade and integrated it with the vBcredits mod on TheWDB.com . So, it's a fun way to spend some time on the site and my members seem to enjoy it. I haven't installed it on any others at this point though. Here's a link to my arcade if anyone wants to see... I've added them in the past though they weren't really that popular and I should have added more games.
I don't have them on my sites, no. I did on a former site, and it was hugely popular. I will probably install v3Arcade on my new site.
Arny, seeing as how yours is a Disney forum, I'm surprised you don't have any Disney games in there. I know Disney makes plenty of Flash games for their web properties, couldn't they share them with you?
Michelle, I haven't even tried looking for Disney related flash games at this point. There are supposedly tons of games out there. But, I haven't had a chance to start my search. If anyone out there does spot some Disney related games, please drop me a line!
