Bar-b-q some ribs, maybe a brisket, pork chops, sausage,,,,. This part of Texas is under a burn ban beacuse of the drought. So no fireworks.
Fireworks are illegal in my city because of perpetual fire damage. We usually have a barbeque at my parents than head to my house around dusk and watch a couple of firework displays from the curb. The city does the display at the fairgrounds which is about a mile and half away. The local baseball stadium also does a display and they are about half a mile away. Of course we get to spend the evening listening to the sirens and helicoptors of the fire department and law enforcement making sure drunk partiers don't burn down their neighbors houses with illegal fireworks. We used to light off fireworks before when there were less people in the city but its a $4500 fine and up to 6 months in jail for illegal incendiary devices now.
We'll grill some hamburgers on the hibachi and have pina coladas. (Unfortunately I can't find red, white, and blue umbrella picks in stock anywhere. I really wanted tiny patriotic drink decorations. LOL)
Friday, I'm going to watch Red, White, and BOOM on television. Saturday morning, I'll be marching in our annual 4th of July Parade. Saturday evening, we'll probably head out towards Municipal Park and watch the city fireworks, which is always a good show.
They are illegal back home, but up here they are legal - well, the safe and sane ones are. However, we are right on a lake and so we go to the Indian reservation and get some fun ones that we set off on the shore. And, we can just look across the lake to see the various city fireworks displays also. I love it up here on the Fourth! We'll also have hamburgers or some sort of barbecue to go along with the day.
I'll of course be firing up my grill with the whole family coming over. We'll then walk a block to the beach and watch the fireworks
I am pleased to report we found some red white and blue cocktail umbrellas and will be starting the pina coladas in a few hours
Sometimes I need to keep in my obsessions. Yes, of course! My mom is being mean and telling me I can't eat until dinner!!!
