As some of you might know, Im working on a tobacco and Cannabis forum, so for legal reason's I need a way to make it so users are 18 ( or say they are 18 ). Is this feature already built into phpbb or is there some kind of plugin? Ive found one setting that allows you to make sure members are 13, but besides that Im clueless. ( Usually use mybb)

It never really works as they will just lie about their age.. as i am a 17 year old smoker, and if I wanted to join a tobacco site, I would just lie about it, but its still good for you as if a minor signs up and somehow you get sued you can always show you had these in place to stop them and they lied in their information. You also should add a disclaimer which will protect you the most.
Exactly why Im doing it. Im gonna allow 17 year olds to post, since in my state it is legal for you to smoke at 17, just not to purchase tobacco products, but Im still going to have to make some sort of TOS page that says we arnt responsible for underage people signing up and such. Thanks for the mod.
Though it is really to filter underage if your forum is dealing with sensitive issues, there is really no sure-fire way to ascertain whether a member is already 18 or still below the allowable age. But at least to protect your site the notice might be really necessary.
