Back when I had my first forums, I knew most the members from other sites online - some even locally to me. But now - I couldn't even tell you...
Website design for me is pretty much the factor of wether I will use the site or not… I can not stand the thought of using an awfully designed site.
I actually miss the times where people seemed interested in forum… that and when vBulletin 3.X.X was actually decent and usable software.
