I've used Postloop in the post for my forums, it cuts out the need for me to do the work of managing the posts and paying out.

I think a limit is a good thing to have. I.e. guests can see 5 threads per 24 hours, to view more, they must register.

Same with me, the TLD doesn't bother me if the content is their. It really does depend on how the website's set up though.
Not many people have heard of .co though. It's most people's instinct to just type 'website.com', and .com looks better imho.
