Somehow I had a feeling there was a lot more time between my question and my bump to Mark. Apologies.

It is too bad you can't be more certain about your fixes getting deployed in upcoming versions.

    It's a far-flung future version. :)

No, sorry, I confess, I meant 5.1.2. Far too many 1's and 2's knocking about round these parts....

So riddle me this, you claim not to be a programer yet you further state you wrote code (which programers do) that you report gets added to a future release???
    WTF

    To be clear:
I'll come up with an idea, add it to the Tracker, and in this case as it was a small piece of template code, I'll add the code I've used to the Tracker entry.
The team then decide they are going to implement this in the product, to my surprise and delight.
They will then look at the code and what it is intended to do, and either amend it or rewrite it themselves.
The code I entered was just showing them what I did.
In this case, my comment lines (<!-- / -->) around the code were changed to <vb:comment> tags, and of course the text I had used for the link and tooltip were changed from hard coded text to phrases (as you would expect).

So no, I'm not a programmer, but I can write bits of template code and some limited php.

Yeah he also claims not to be a vB employee yet he works for and gets paid by them. What I think he's trying to say is that he programs but is not proficient or very good at it, just muddles through and lucks out when it works regardless of any other problems it creates. Kinda like he does as support staff.

    Skadooosh! :P

But seriously though. It is a really gnarly job supporting a low quality product and it is fact that the support of a low quality product, within a low quality company, ends up low quality too, even if the people doing the work are better than that, which I would actually say, Mark is.

That being said, the high-horse, fight against the vocal minority, calling them ranty customers, nit-picking their small factual mistakes kind of defence of the basically indefensible deserves retribution. Autopilot's post is a great example of it.:D

Where is Joe and Paul, btw.?:joyful:

Where is Joe and Paul??? They trade off like tag teaming Saturday night wrestlers. Mark will tag out any time now and one of the other sheeples will tag in for a round or 2. :wideyed:

I'm not a programmer. It's as simple as that.

Quite incredible that people are trying to criticise me for not being good at programming, when I've already stated that I am not one.

I only get abuse on third party admin sites because people like to have someone they can shout at.

I have never received any abuse from any customer, everyone I deal with is appreciative of the service provided, even if they aren't happy overall.

    Who are your customers?

Don't forget that you are not employed over at vb.com

Here is one post where a customer is abusing you Mark. He is acting like you are a moron and what did you do? Threaten back.

And I come back full circle to what I said above. If vBulletin had a clue about what they were doing and more importantly cared a whole lot more about what they are doing, if the quality were right, that conversation probably would have went completely different. It probably wouldn't have happened at all.

Really Mark B, despite everything you seem to be deliberately posting utter crap in an attempt to disrupt this site.

What other reason is there for posting obvious untruths and your unmitigated crap. These are the actions of a Badger and troll.

No useful purpose is served by your actions.

Oh hey, I never thought this thread would turn in to a Mark B./vBulletin bitch fest.

Good thing no other thread has ever done that.

He can't handle it.. can he. So funny, yet he hates others who throw their weight around as staff towards him on other forum. Classic... Mark loses the plot.
