Is this the miracle we've all been desperately hoping for over the last few years? Maybe, because Internet Brands have apparently killed all mention of vBulletin on their official website. It's missing on their page here: http://www.internetbrands.com/our-brands/ The registration for the domains 'vBulletin.com' and 'vBulletin.org' is now by proxy. Perhaps this is a good sign? People at TAZ have been mentioning it: http://www.theadminzone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107901 So what do you think? They selling it off to a new owner, who might know what the hell to actually do with it? Or are they maybe just killing off the company once and for all, and taking the vBulletin brand out round the bank of the barn like old yeller?
I would bet on the later. The brand isn't close to what it was and peoples confidence in it is just about gone. Another reason I would think they'd kill it is because they use it on all their sites. They possibly could close it down and keep developing it for themselves. Of course if IB thinks they can milk a few millions out of someone who doesn't know the history of vbulletin them I'm sure they'll sell it off.
Without inside info it is hard to say what they will do. As a business the "service" to customers does not look to be profitable, so it is possible that this service will be terminated. Using accountant logic, keep their profitable part for themselves and let go the problematic unprofitable customer part. We have seen that they do not give a stuff about their customer base, so either sell it or drop the unprofitable part. Past experience with this type of organization indicates that they will do something weird for their own warped reasons, Based upon what we know they have so far operated in a non logical manner and I fear this will continue.
That's weird. You'd think with all the vb5 sales that mark B and joe are always talking about it'd be the most profitable it's been in years
Doesn't matter to me. Even if they sold them to a competent party it would take years to get it to where other platforms are now.
I think this is all just speculation based on very little but somewhere down the line I do believe this to be the most likely scenario...
That is the main thing that really makes me think vB 5 should just fail, they don't even trust the software for there communities.
Is there anywhere you can actually find be bragging about a high volume of VB5 sales. Hint- no there isn't, because I never have. More lies.
If this is true, then best of luck to the new owner because Internet brands destroyed a nice product with vBulletin 5. It'll take a lot of time, hardwork and dedication for a new company to totally rebuild the software from scratch.
I agree. Since IB/vB don't seem to care about the software or its customers, it's pretty much dead in the market place. The support staff seem to be the pallbearers as they put the finishing nails into its coffin. Those who knew and loved vB should observe a moment of silent prayer with flags at half mast. It is truly a sad moment for all who knew it. Farewell good friend, you have been replaced already but not forgotten.
Im pretty sure they've successfully killed the brand to the point where only someone with more money than brains would purchase it. Which would basically be like IB never sold it to begin with.
Well well well. Its their first wise business move since release of vb5 which is more than crap. In fact vb5 should not havwe been born even. I wonder whats going on 'behind-the-scenes' in IB, what (or who) convinced them to do it......
The three amigos are very quiet, they must be keeping a low profile in the hope that they are included in the sale ..
There's nothing to say. If it was really being sold the employees are the last to know. I could give you all the reasons why I doubt it is being sold but you people will neither believe me nor care.
