I have an ISSUE with rules being changed and then the changes applying retrospectively. It's kind of similar to the "giving away the database" thing in a way - if I am going to post and join in a forum, I do not want the fear that something that's ok today, will be ret-conned into not being ok on a whim.

The actual posts I don't care about one way or the other. It's the principle of "backwards-compatible" rule changes.

But Mark, Bob restored your member account back and since you've used it, like you're doing now. So... if he restored your account and your using it, then do you not think it's only natural he should also try and restore all your old posts back to it as well if possible.

I was not asking for the query so I could restore your posts from AA. What's done is done. At the time you made it clear you didn't want to be part of the community and to cover myself so I didn't have another fiasco on my hands I removed the account.

I wanted the query to restore an account on my tech site which I accidentally deleted. I wanted to restore the person old posts to the new account. Many of those posts were tutorials.

Fair enough, thanks for the clarification.

To make it clear I had, nor did I ever have, any intention to restore and attribute Marks post from AA to his account here. What was done will not be undone unless Mark asks me to.

My Admin Addict account was not restored. I always had an account on Admin Talk.

So did I on both sites, two accounts using same name - same as you. So in that case then, guess (same as you) that nothing I posted on AA should have been linked with my AT account here then, not without my permission to do it?

Unless, it's one rule for you, but a different rule for rest of us?

Whatever, leave em all as guest posts.....

No, it's not a different rule. Marks account was removed. If I didn't remove it and if the same username or email was used to create the account his account would have been merged during import.

That is why your account and anyone else that had an account on AA were merged during the import. Some users had different usernames or email address and those were dealt with upon request. There are still many that had accounts on both with different usernames/email. I have not merged them because I haven't been asked to.

I will be upgrading to RC1 this weekend. I have to remove some addons that are not being used any longer and once I do that I'll upgrade.

It's not that nobody wants to discuss the latest release, it's just that XenForo upgrades typically go without any problems, unlike with vBulletin lately, where the damn planets must align along with having a full blue moon for it to go right.

I don't buy that. The old vB3 release threads used to run for many pages.

I don't know what the XF forums are like as I'm banned from them, however I would proffer that most of the participants in such threads on third party sites are mainly interested in creating drama, rather than the subject matter.

Why don't you whine more about it so the same thing you don't like happening keeps happening in this thread.

On XenForo.com, the 1.3 release thread is 22 pages.

Which just proves my point that on the third party sites, most participants have no interest in the product or the release, and simply want to create drama.

Then stop reading it and responding to it.

He has a point Mark, you do get yourself involved in the drama topics your on about avoiding.

And I don't mean learning to play the piano...

I think the drama queen is bored with nothing to do at the vB site so he comes here to incite controversy in a competitors thread. Spiteful to say the least.

Perhaps the trio of fail are frustrated at not being able to voice their opinions on VB openly for fear of losing their employment, so they come here to stir, Hoping that others will post against the actions of VB/IB and they will then feel they are getting some payback for the shameful way they are treated on the VB sites.

I totally agree and I have no desire to be part of a community that tolerates him.
