http://www.vbulletin.com/ Introducing VBCloud! Cloud based hosting of vBulletin 5, monthly and annual plans available.
Well this is going to be fun. Find it weird that ticket support is not included you need to pay extra for that, i presume after a month. But for starting a new community with 100GB harddisk space and 25GB data transfer you can go a long way. You can test it for a few months and if not good you'll drop the project or if project is good you can switch if needed to other software, this system looks more like the leased licenses that vBulletin once had.
McGanty fired and replaced with someone competent? edit: Guess not. I actually replied to "Big News coming soon at vb.com" -- Joe edited his post while I was making mine.
Indeed- it gives people a chance to get used to it for simply $20 instead of a $249 investment + separate hosting.
Oh boy, this could so, so easily all go wrong. Like if the vB support team are doing hosting support, or the server gets hacked again. Or heck, just IB trying to running a server well is offputting, I always hear how some of their sites keep going down or running into technical issues. Still, I guess we can be hopeful, right? At least they're trying something new and potentially interesting.
@BirdOPrey5 I haven't looked into vBulletin 5 lately(for obvious reason). However if styles are developed on this vbCloud, are they able to be fully exportable? Whichever files + xml or what not needed.
The biggest question people should ask if you stop with the cloud can you get a copy of the database so you can migrate to another vendor.
vBulletin servers get hacked, vBulletin.com running way slower then couple other vBulletin 5 installations , Internet Brands is a company whom purchases boards for advertisement ( which eventually makes any statistic extremely valuable for them ) So why should i want to keep my data hosted at there
Is THIS the BIG new news we were all waiting with bated breath for? ANOTHER money making scheme from VB?
This prank is too funny. Though I feel sorry for any admins that step into this turd. Common people: upload all your members to the Internet Brands cloud. What on earth could go wrong?
Three questions: 1. Who are the people that will handle the support tickets for the hosting? I thought vB already severely lacking in necessary employees due to the cut off? 2. What are the specs for the cloud service? any SLA? 3. How the hell can the Bronze plan be the popular one when the hosting just started today? Edit: Add several more, where are the Datacenters located? What about redundancy? DDoS protection?
Thanks for bringing something on another forum into this thread. Your definition of ape shit is adorable. If you have a problem with me that is on you. No concern of mine or anyone elses in this thread at least.
Not so adorable if you're banned. We have lost Mark there, I can't afford to loose you as well. Of course, entertainment is my main concern.
