As some of you already know I purchased Admin Talk from @Brandon yesterday. The site is now on my servers. The DNS isn't sully propagated yet so some of you might still be hitting the old server with the closed sign. You can access it by IP http://173.167.140.114 until DNS fully propagates. I know you'll have some questions and I will answer them all. Until then here is some of the things that will change going forward. The site will get a facelift. I like this style and will keep it available for everyone to use if they choose. I will be changing the default style. I will be installing Elastic search, I have a license for it for this site. There are other things I will be doing and will discuss them in the future. If you have any suggestions now is the time to post them. I will look at any and all recommendations that you make. For now I've got some cleanup to do. I have the site on a staging server right now. Once I get everything the way I want it and have the import done I will move it to the production server. No downtime when I do that. It's just a small config change in the DNS.
It will be interesting to see how the merge goes. Good luck. My only request is to leave a fixed width version of any style you choose to do. Thanks! Scott
I had vbulletin 4 running on a site I closed yesterday. It was a 1.3M post off topic forum. I started it on vbulletin 3.8 and upgraded to vbulletin 4.2 when it was released. I had no problems with it. As I said in another thread vbulletin 4 is a viable solution and should be the flagship until they do a total rewrite.
Seems interesting. I am looking forward to what you do for the site, good luck and I wish you the best in your future endeavors Brandon.
Glad to hear AA is in good hands @AWS! I welcome our new overload. Sorry to see @Brandon go though. Will you be sticking around?
I can't speak for @Brandon, but, I am keeping him as an admin until he tells me he doesn't have the time to visit here.
I'm really surprised @Brandon sold Admin Talk. But more so, him talking about getting out the running of them. Never thought I'd see him talk about doing that, he's one of the last people in fact. How comes you've decided to get out running forums for @Brandon?
Congrats AWS I'm quite a new member here but I really like this forum. In fact, it's the only admin forum I participate. Hope AT will stay a nice place
I originally had no intention of remaining active here, but there's a lot of good discussion going on and I found myself visiting almost every day. It's true when they say that the people make or break a community.
Oh wow, i tell you...I really need to become active more here I am always out of the loop. I was a member of AA and last i heard @AWS was shutting it down and what not so I am surprised to see the new merge but he's a good guy so I look forward to all the changes and improvements!
