Im thinking of getting Adwords, any thoughts about it from anyone here that has used it or know about it?
I've used it extensively...I spent a ton of money ($xxx, xxx per year) on it to do affiliate marketing a couple years ago. You can spend days or weeks learning about Adwords - tools to use, how to research/select keywords, how to create the perfect ad, how to select the right bid prices, which pages to send visitors to, how to measure effectiveness...There's a ton of stuff to learn there. I don't use it today like I used to in the past, but I do still use it on a small scale. If you plan on using it, be very careful about the keywords that you use. That's probably the most important thing and the biggest opportunity for you to screw up and blow a lot of money. It's also a good idea to have some way to track which words/ads convert and which do not...Otherwise you're spending money and you don't know if it's doing you any good.
Thanks for the information, you answered a few of my questions. Im still thinking, dont want to waste my money if it wont work, I already have alot of good keywords in mind.
Theres a tool in there to check the words you want to use before you use them, and a tool to track the keywords you are using that people my or may not actually type in to google. I have used it along with advertising on facebook which is another venue you can use now. Facebook in my opinion is actually better as you can see the impressions and set up seperate accounts so you can add funds to each one. They don't actually bill your credit card either until after your run is complete. You can stop or pause your ad at anytime. More info on FB ads here: http://www.facebook.com/FacebookAds
Adwords has been iffy for me. Most of my ad campaigns have been direct buys, adwords and Facebook. Its funny, a campaign on adwords may not work where as it flourishes on FB. There was a couple times in 2012 I spent 1k a day on adwords for 1 site. It hurt, a lot. Its hard to express what its like to just watch that money go. Just thinking of it now makes me cringe. I would say on average i was spending $200 a day on adwords, $50 on FB. Funny that FB basically grew my Jeep site on the cheap cheap!
Google adwords can be over hyped at times. I never used adwords to help rank or get my site noticed. I would rather use other services that are less saturated.
Less saturated? With saturation comes visibility. Perhaps you can tell us about some of the services you prefer to use.
Adsense does pay well and it's very targeted towards your site users interests, I'd definitely give it a go over a lot of other alternatives as it does pay well and it is a good means of income.
Adwords was the target a couple years ago of a number of get rich quick guides, so it is very heavily used by people who don't know what they are doing, but think they can make money off of it.
