If you got scammed by this person, and you're not sharing the name. It's more likely that he'll scam another member in the Xenforo community.

Grow a pair, and give us the name. Members here are trying to help, and they can't help without any real facts.

If the OP is genuine then I see no reason to withhold the name. After all, the OP has no problem with allowing posts on his site that wrongly name and defame people without any proof, so why is there a problem with him disclosing the name?

Just look at his posts on xF.. http://xenforo.com/community/search/member?user_id=3816 He's simply an attention whore... He's even been caught by staff making alts to like his own posts and has told Mike and Kier that it's wrong and should be done "this way".

I just read the original thread on Xenforo. A bunch of developers told him what he was offering ($1,000) for the arcade wasn't enough, basically. Then he found someone not only willing to do it for that price, but willing to do it to prove you didn't need to charge a lot. The person was never named and, in a shocking twist, they never completed the project.

Who could have seen that coming?

AND he paid not just $1000, but purportedly (see topic title) $3,500 - which is what some devs initially said they'd do it for.

    It's a mad world.

While you're saying "Don't trust others' people suggestions and go along your instict", then is wise to avoid doing the same. I mean to not suggest coders.

Seeing it from another point, I do admit that you act correct to not name him to avoid enless fights, but maybe this way you kick 100's of other coders. eg maybe someone can think that "Chris Teriakis was that coder", so I need to come here and protect myself by declaring "I was not the one who is mentioned on this post".

    He goes by DivisionByZero
He is somehow affiliated with vB staff, so he has a bit of free reign there. Not sure about xF

What are you expecting from someone who is using as nickname DivisionByZero (== ERROR !!). It's like to expect good actions from Paul who uses as avatar a devil.

So did you have a contract with clearly defined requirements? Just saying, with something like that, provided the work was not done to the specifications on the contract, you could get part or all of your money back.

If you didn't have a contract and were just trusting someone's word....well you saw what happened.

Happens all the time. There is always someone new to scam. I didn't realize he was on the xenforo site now.

What makes you think he's affiliated with vB staff?

DivisionByZero is absolutely not VB staff nor as any affiliation other than being a license holder and forum member.

Contributor is an automatic title given to members who have posted articles, modifications, graphics or the like to vBulletin.org. If you click on their title you can see what they have contributed on their profile page.

If they continue to submit plugins or styles they will eventually get the Coder or Designer title, respectfully. Again this is an automatic process based on the number of installs overall they have.

So DivisionByZero is not just a member but has a title of Contributor.

One step below a coder or designer it seems.

He has released 2 modifications for vBulletin 3.6 and 1 template edit for VB 4.x so yes he was automatically promoted to "Contributor" some time ago. A contributor has no different abilities or rights than any other member.
