Wait, the US is only NOW getting some sort of free health care? That's been kind of default over here for years now... And I still can't tell what all the arguments about it are over.
If we didn't spend most of the 1900's keeping Europe from self destructing we'd probably have money to spend on healthcare as well. It is tough on top, we get to deal with countries who haven't filled our shoes taking shots at us. With that said, I hate our countries direction but I'll be damned if its as simple as Canada telling us "We've been doing it for years."
I like the concept of healthcare for all, but I don't like the way they are implementing it. Too complicated.
I think when they start using catch phrases like "quality care you can afford" one needs to read the fine print more carefully.

Yeah, Obama is a communist and the world will fall into pieces if everybody in the USA can go to a doctor without having to be afraid of not being able to afford it. This is very very strange...

It is one of the reasons, including our current involvement overseas. The reason Canada has so much money to dedicate to healthcare is because we pick up the tab for the military of so many countries. Canada's GDP for 2012 was 1.8 trillion dollars. Our defense budget is just over 1 trillion dollars a year.
Americans pay twice the price for crap that Canada has no use for or too much of. Stay home and stop provoking 3rd world countries and we would need half that DEFENSE budget. Look after our own I say and leave the rest to themselves. This is one example of above. Also sending most if not all of your manufacturing off shore and importing supplies for the likes of Wally Mart and the big red dot don't create jobs for Americans.
Being a mouthy little sod, I thought I would ask this: In the USA, as lots of public servants are now being forced to stop work with no pay, Will all the politicians also be forced to exist without any pay? after all they are really only public servants as well. Would this result in the problem being fixed in a surprisingly fast time frame? So what happened to all the politicians assurances that they would "Fix"the economy. Feel free to discuss with passion.
I love this post, because it pretty sums up everything in politics so perfectly. Cut the pay for the politicians in a time like this (until they resolve their differences), and those corrupt guys will soon put everything aside just to keep making a living.
I agree with you. Which is what my entire point was. Canada hasn't exactly had to defend themselves from anything though and for better or worse it is because we have over 100 military bases in over 100 countries. I am all for you guys picking up the tab when it comes to defense spending. I am sick of it.
