+1 only change that to Monday afternoon. :D The fix was 2 minutes but he wanted vB and plugins updated turned out to be a nice little unexpected invoice.

Try telling him that. I usually hear from him once a year to do upgrades. On the whole it's not a big deal. Usually if there's a major security issue I remember to email him.

A competing board to mine got hit with the same hack. I got ahold of the owner on FB and told him how to clean it up. He didn't care for me before but I hope I earned some good will. I hate to see anyone get hacked.

As a believer in karma, even if you didn't earn some goodwill from the owner you've added a +1 to your positive scale. ;)

i had my vb4.2 forum hacked by an alleged Syrian government hacker group the other day. they regged, made themselves admins, and added a notice with a redirect to their sites 404 page.

    crazy stuff.

The Syrian government are hacking forums now? Wow, and I thought they were only responsible for real world crimes.

You should have sent them a message boasting about Assad's imminent downfall!

This is the hack that exploits the install folder. Did you not see the alert about this?

@Caddyman And did you still have the /install folder and or its contents available at the time of the hack?

I think that's just a pseudonym for the rapper, Drake.

Really? Did you ask him in code or something because what I asked had nothing to do with whether he saw the alert or not. And his reply was that he had read the alert after the fact. Before you assume you know the answer to a question I asked someone else perhaps it would be more polite and informative to let him answer for himself? Thanks

hmm a bad bastard manipulation and a projection rolled into one sentence. You're not as skillful as you think you are as shown by your assuming too much.

LOL no offense taken, perhaps he should give up his day job. He's a better comedian than a psychologist in IMHO.
