I saw this article today and I've heard about this being in the works before but I guess it's time.

    Wow...
Imagine if that could detect things like Heart Attacks and Strokes in the elderly and connects straight through to the emergency services - now that is technology of the future to save lives!

It's scary to think what other technology the government and defence services actually have available or are developing behind the scenes

It's even scarier to think that someday the government might impose that kind of patches to monitorize any of our movements. And that kind of stuff is closer to us every day. Just think of what the UK government wants to do with the Internet.

I'm affraid of what humanity can do to itself.

I would rather not be around on this planet by the time this happens. I don't take to things like this at all.

I would also turn the porn back again (even if I didn't visit those kind of sites...) just because I don't like someone else deciding what's best for me and my family.

I really hope that filter never gets impossed.

The thing is, I wonder how they will filter every porn site. Will they manually add site URLs to the filter or use a bot or keywords.
If its the latter then they could end up blocking legitimate sites like Health and Sex Blog, Relationship Advice sites, all that kind of stuff with it, oh and Yahoo Answers lol.

This page on Wikipedia gives some idea of the problems that will occur when the UK starts filtering porn: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scunthorpe_problem

The irony is that until I hit Post Reply I won't know if I can even link the page because the forum may well employ a filter that will block my link.

[EDIT] Well hats off to Brandon, there's no filtering here. Many forums would filter that link, a link that describes the perils of filtering.
