i am not looking forward for it that much. IPB 3 is a good script but half baked on many points. I just hope IPB 4 will not be half baked as the IPB 3

Only joking, couldn't resist that one. It's one thing I didn't like too much about IPB when owning it. They have the many features, but they seemed lacking in how complex they was to say... vBulletin 3 having the same thing which was more flexible in what you could do with that same feature. Yes, half-baked is a good word for it!

I'm hoping for some real improvements in IP.Content and IP.Nexus. Right now, they aren't anywhere near as robust as they should be. InvisionSoft likes to say that IP.Content is a full fledged CMS on the lines of Joomla or Drupal.... uh... no..

They could have made a full on Wordpress bridge in the time they worked on IP Content and many people would have been overjoyed.

I've been using IPB for a few years now. I started just after IPB 3 was released, but, I followed the discussions during the development phase. One thing I can say for sure is they will not release a public beta until it is mostly bug free.

IPB 3 was a complete rewrite as will IPB 4. It did take a while before the beta version showed up on the company forum. Once that happened the private beta testers got it about 2 weeks later. I installed it right away for testing. I would guess that if they follow the same timeline as IPB 3 you should see IPB 4 running on the support forum by the end of March. Beta release to public shortly after with gold not far behind.

One thing IPB does is once the company forum is updated they go to gold rather quickly. It might take a bit longer to see the beta, but, when it is released you can run it on a live site and find very few bugs.

It seems they take the quality of their work quite seriously, which is a good thing.

I am glad that they are taking their time. I'd hate for a rushed mess like VB5 to come out for IPB 4

I think they would be looking closely at that to make sure it wouldn't happen to them.

Well Xenforo needs to make sure they keep up and IPB has set a new standard with some stuff they added.

Quick Translating some one at IPB is paying attention that this is very intensive to do and how there going to do it it will be better for translators.

Embeddable content its time that it was made simpler also will be a big plus for developers that its made easier.

Q&A well its look good they taken that system what they all ready had to the next level.

Unlike some companies IPB only blog about new features if they know 99,99999% for sure it will be in the next version else they will not blog about it.

None of you know how much IPB 4 will cost, when it will come out nor what kind of quality it will.

It is a little ridiculous to say something looks out dated when all you have seen from IPB 4 is screenshots. It could be 6 more months or longer before you can even buy and install IPB 4 on your site. How can something that is probably 6 months away at least outdate something that actually exists and can be purchased and installed?
