Hiya, I see you don't have Admin Talk setup to handle SEO friendly urls like with the thread name being in the URL rather than just the thread ID number. Is this done intentionally or have you just not seen the need to set it up in this manner? Surely for search engine growth it will help having the threads keywords in the urls? What's your ideas on this here?
I do have to say that having the keywords in the URLs looks nicer though. Forget search engines for two minutes here, it should be human visitors you care about, and many of those might prefer the look of said URLs... I know I do.
Sure, I can see where you're coming from @CM30 but I like to have nice short URL's so the thread ID is what I choose to use. Also if you have to rename a thread it'll cause a few small issues but mainly I went with the current setup for the shorter URL.
Its faster for sure on the server as it does not have to look it up, however I would agree that for search engine users, FURL look a lot nicer to click on.
hmm. So you think the URL's look better with the thread content in them? I wonder if I can cut forums/ to f/ and threads/ to t/ *edit* looks like this will work http://xenforo.com/community/threads/route-filters.47946/
Well... Admin Talk has done well so far, so I can't really argue that having SEO URL's set or not will hinder or help you. But it does make the URL's look nicer
I never noticed you didn't use full SEO URL's... But now I have you gotta change it to the ones with the thread title
For a long time search engines have been doing a great job indexing sites that don't have SEO friendly URLs. I do think that those URL looks better but the truth is that even if them look better the users aren't going to memorize the URL to come back to the site later. They are going to either bookmark it or just rely on finding it again on a search engine. I don't think there's any reason for even bothering configuring the server to create SEO friendly URLs.
I made the changes to another forum I have about 10 days ago and changed them on this forum tonight, we'll see if it helps with the results in a month or two.
