Sadly, I can't help as I have no design skills. But I am curious, what is your sports site? I have a ghost town of one that is slowly turning into a dev sandbox because, well, I lost hope for it. lol
Do you know anyone who could? My site is The Sports Universe (http://the-sports-universe.net). We've been up for 7 years on different boards and we finally made the switch to vBulletin.
Last guy I worked with says he no longer works with vb4, no interest **add his other complaints here too**. Some suggestions, compress your logo more, it takes a bit of time to load. Work on the stars background as well, its also large in file size. 1082 pixel wide might be a bit big for most users. I am not sure how many people use wide screen or high resolutions, but its big on my screen too I wish I could be of more help.
www.minerskinz.com www.completevb.com are both pretty good I purchased a custom skin from miner years ago, I was very happy with what I got.
