I've recently posted about the what's new link. Now, in xenForo there's Alerts. I assume you all know what I'm talking about since Admin-Talk uses xenForo forum software, How helpful was Alerts to you and do you wish that forums that's not using xenForo software which you're a member of, had Alerts?
I'm in love with the alerts system because it makes it easier for you to reply to topics, and see who's replying to those topics. I think it makes the community even better, and I wish all forums had an alerts system.
I like the alert you get from a quote/watched threads and @reply more then anything. I really miss it when visiting a vBulletin forum because I have to search my post to see if anyone has replied to my questions or my post.
With vBulletin, I used to automatically subscribe to a thread from the control panel and repeatedly check the thread links Via control panel for new replies. With IPB, I would have used the "My Content" link. Both were a lot of work and eventually gets boring because you have to click links, ( similar to watching a thread with xenForo ) Alerts makes everything easier to find,
To be honest I think I like the alerts more then anything else on the forum as a user. I'm able to see exactly where someone replies to me or if they liked my post I'll usually go look at the other post after and I'll generally post a reply. I hope vBulletin 5 has something along these lines, if not I know a programer will make a mod but it'll probably be a premium mod.
I love the alerts it definitely does make it so much more useful than having to constantly check to see if there is a reply.
I think the alert system was a great idea and is the best feature xenforo invented. Hope vBulletin will integrate it into vB5.
