I just noticed today that xenForo sets the session timeout for 60 mins, I've set it to 30 and may go to 15 like I had on my vBulletin sites.
I know if I leave it at 60 the forum will "look" busier if you're watching the who's online box, but I like to be realistic with the stats and I'm just use to seeing it at 15 mins (900 seconds) with my older forums.

What are the PRO's and CON's to changing this setting?

I have mine set to 30 minutes. I had it set to 15 minutes before when we first re-opened up, then one of our competitors had their timer at 30 minutes, so I was like why not, I'll up mine to 30 minutes in order to compete with them - and guess what? After about two months of being back up, we had way more users online than them and activity. Personally, I also think more people register when the online counter is higher.

I'm trying to think of a nice and short way to say how long the timeout is.
Something unusual and something you'll remember but the hard part is making that short and sweet.

"Latest Admin's checking in during the last 15/30 mins" is a bit to long..lol

Mine are all set at 15. That gives a fairly accurate reading on how many people are on the site.

I use Analytics live stats to see how many people are on the site.

I always set my timeouts to 30 minutes. My rationale is there's are always those 1 or 2 people who don't tick 'remember me', then piss and moan at me when they lose a post they took to long to type.

That's why I have a plugin implemented on my community that checks "Remember me" automatically. ;)

Where exactly do you see this live stats?
I may have it but don't know where to access it.

It's on the Home tab of Analytics, it's called Real-Time
