I just saw TAZ did an interview with the vBulletin's Operations and Marketing Manager, Lawrence Cole and I question why these questions got the "no comment" remark?? Have you read the interview, what are your thoughts on this and the direction vBulletin is heading?
Wow, I wonder why he put No comment on all those question. Perhaps, his bosses told him to keep quiet? That's a very failed interview.
This is hilarious. Personally, I think since the birth of Xenforo, VBulletin's user base has diminished rather quickly and will continue to do so.
I just saw Mr. Cole had posted this to one of the past developers that helped vBulletin when they went to vb4.. I've known Mert or the "Lizard King" for many years, we've butted heads a few times but I know he's decent at vBulletin. For the marketing manager to post something like this in public and then go back and bold certain words just shows his immaturity.
Note that that board is only viewable by licensed members--it's not public. Still, that shows a complete lack of professionalism, something that he should definitely possess in a position such a his.

I actually would of not be bothered to publish the article if he did that to me personally. But its good I guess that he came back and answered it.
I would have responded to the last question's answer with " What future?" lol Just goes to show you that age is only a number as he clearly acts like a child and should be treated as one till he decides to act his age instead of his shoe size.

I think everyone is being silly over this. You people honestly believe that VB has no future? Or the Xenforo has made any drop in the bucket to their bottom line? VB is making money as always and will continue to do so. They have the best forum software out there and the most crediability. Just because someone people are hoping they do bad does not mean they will. Internet Brands Inc is trading +13 dollar on the Nasdaq. Their company is solid and they have no problems. So VB went corporate. It was bound to happen. They make a quality product. I mean yeah they went about it wrong and I do like Xenforo. But, you people are kidding yoursleves if you think their bottom line is hurting. Or if you think Xenforo is going to snuff out VB. Cmon, be realistic...
A lot of people were claiming that vBulletin will die down because of Xenforo. It's the same thing of Google + competiting against Facebook. Both products have been out longer than the new ones, and I'm pretty sure vBulletin still has a ton of loyal members, and people advertising the product. Just like Xenforo does, but the fact remains, vBulletin will remain on top for a long time, and Xenforo is basically another forum software that you could use instead of vBulletin. It's really all about personal taste and such.
vB definitely lost a whole lot of good will insofar as mod and theme coders. Just look at the amount of styles available on the .org for 3.8 vs 4. For me pretty much any software can do the job but what drew me to vBulletin originally was the strong community around it. XF appears to have a very active community of modders and such. Right now XF seems to be interested in implementing features vs. producing upsells as vB seems hell bent on. I don't wish vB any ill will nor do I want to see 'the ship go down flaming' but XF looks the most promising to me right now.
Ya, that's ridiculous. With that many developers, you should expect more things coming out of vBulletin, but no. I guess it really hurt them when Kier left and made Xenforo.
I imagine none of you have ever been a part of a serious Dev Team on a serious project. It is not uncommon to have 10 or so people working on a huge project. Also, they have different parts of a Dev Team. Some of those people may not be developing the product. They maybe working on other things besides the main project. I have worked at a major firm before and we had somewhere need 40 Devs for most of the projects. We were working on million dollar deals involving software and such. So, yeah to make a deal about something like that seems trivial in my eyes. Not to mention the people that bought Vbulletin already had employess. It is not like they were going to fire the ones they already have. They probably kept old staff on from vbulletin + their employees, which also raises that number. I really think it is funny to see so much hate on the company that was such a cash cow for most site owners. I myself have probably made 10s of 1000s of dollars off of vbulletin. And I know Brandon has not done bad And some of these people that are all with the lets smear VB also made that money too. I do not understand why so many people wants to bite the hand that fed them for so long. Do not get me wrong I like Xenforo. My next site is going to be Xenforo, but they are nowhere near the level of Vbulletin, nor will they ever be probably. That is like someone starting a new hamgurger chain and saying we used to work for Mcdonalds and ours are better and cheaper. You are still not going to ever put a dent in McDonalds bottom line.. I just think too many people are being unrealistic about all this... But again just my opinion
I was one of the biggest vbfan boys around the web a few years ago and yes, I've made and continue to make money off what vbulletin is doing but damn... I think we miss the old vBulletin, the one we could trust and look forward to updates. The only thing my clients and myself look forward to anymore is bug fixes. It stuff like all the focus on paid mods and very bad marketing that makes me sad. Also I don't see why vbulletin emails from the ibemail URL. Use the vbulletin domain so it's not always marked as spam.
