Forum of the month contests are usually quite popular on other admin forums and such - so, have you ever won one? I know I did a few years ago with my community Virtualpetlist on Theadminzone, it was quite a major milestone for us. How about you?
I've won a few from vbulletin.com and .org in the past with a vBulletin support site I had. I'm planning on submitted Admin-Talk to several FOTM or BOTM contest once we get our nicer style set back up,
I just won my first one actually. I was surprised, to say the least, but I do hope to win more down the line.
I was runner up twice, both times. We lost to staff members. Kinda makes me want to rage cause I personally don't find it's right that they participate.
I have never won a forum of the month contest before. Hopefully in the future I can. I was so close to buying a forum that recently won ForumPromotion's forum of the month. ARGH! Frustrating!
I never really bothered myself with these contests as I always saw it as a popularity contest which doesn't really mean much nor something I would get upset over if I lost such a contest.
I remember submitting one of my old forums to the vB.org's BOTM, but I didn't win, I remember voting for one forum at ForumPromotion.net that deserved to win ( months ago ) , but of course, the well-known member's forum won, I don't really participate in FOTMs much..
I agree that it could be a popularity contest, but it also helps get the word out for your community. I know its always nice to compete against others because it shows how determined you really are to succeed against someone else.
