Probably because that's the first site they visit, and they like the notifications. If they wanted they could have set up a filter in their email to sort out the email notifications from the forum if they enabled that. idk, it's just the way it is I guess.

Well, how many facebook likes does your page have? Do you push advertising towards your FB page?

Well they've been on vBulletin for years and it wouldn't be convenient to switch, and I'm certain a lot of members would leave if that happened, they hate XenForo with a passion because of its Facebook-like operation.

I don't think that will show how much people like your forum/website because most of Facebook users like Facebook pages even if they don't see what's the content of that page...But,I think Facebook Like page will increase number of visitors to your website or forum :)

Yea, just because you have alot of likes, or twitter follows doesnt make your site a good one or popular one. Its the content.

Depending on the forums, I could have anywhere between 50-200 fans on my page. It hasn't helped too too much but certainly didn't hurt.

As long as your forum/website has a niche that a lot of people like, then having a Facebook page should help greatly for traffic.

Ya, that's mainly people liking your page through the community. If you buy facebook ads, you can always buy facebook likes and increase them. I'm not sure how the number of likes really matter - because if its just your users, your just pushing the same message over and over to them. It's good for exposure and free promotion, because when a user likes your page, it shows up on their feed, and profile. Thus, free marketing.

It can be helpful and show how many people like your website, it could also be a good way to get some nice facebook competitions going and help keep your members keep track of the little updates.

The competitions should be used to increase your likes, correct? That's how I've always seen it.

Not only is it good for your website, but it also drives in extra traffic to it!
