Well, this question just popped in my head - what if you took a break for a few days, do you think your community will do just fine or would it suffer greatly?

When you came back from the break, what are some things you'd to make a good comeback and show users that you're back in the mix?

My community is brand new if I don't post every day then it would tank. If it takes off I will be able to take a few days break. But for now it needs me every day. ;)

It can do if you have a decent member base, and staff base. It all depends on how loyal your members and staff are, etc.

That's exactly what I would say. As long as you have a loyal, active, and friendly staff and member base, you'll be fine. If your member base is full of people who can only get on, maybe once a week, your community will die.

Yea, I've had this in the past that activity would only happen in the weekend, and that during the weekday, it was practically pointless to visit my forum as there would be nothing to do or reply to, etc. :(

Loyal members always tend to keep the community flowing especially with new threads. Team work is great, and especially when you're able to come back to your communtiy and see a lot of new posts.

I think mine would. The rest of them are chatter boxes and compete with each other to see who posts the most topics over a certain period of time. :P

I totally agree! You got to have a nice base before leaving because if they are only showing up to impress you. Well when your not there theirs no one to impress and then the hit the road to the next forum!
    :agreed:

I agree, when a forum is new you should be active as much as possible and continuously post and advertise it.

I agree to some extend, but even once activity has built up, surely you should still continue to promote it???

Yea you should always continue to promote and post on your forum but not as much work will be required once it gets on it's feet but again that is no excuse to stop.

Great point bro and its absoulutely correct because a new forum needs its admin/owner to help get it off the ground.

I've had an inactive week before, maybe 20 posts in the 7 days, everything was fine, so yes.

Yes it does, that's when the admin need to dedicate most of their time which most don't and then they complain about having an inactive forum.

I've left my community alone for a few weeks there while I was living my life, and the daily averages were still kinda the same. I came back up and picked up the slack where I left it. I'm sure as long as you have a dedicated member-base, then you can take breaks away from the place - while focusing on other things - like advertising - and making connections to help you in the long run. It all depends really though.
