How often do you get spammers?

When I ran pcforumz it had alot of spammers because it was on VB. Any other forum I have had has not had much spam

 

well VB has bad spam prevention because their basic Captcha is extremely easy to crack, it's even easier than phpBB3's basic one for gawds sakes...

 

Well yea of course, there is no 100% way to stop spam, just gotta take steps to lower it. And websites like stopforumspam, and botscout are some good ones.

I agree, it seems that CAPTCHA is no more reliable in filtering spams. The last time I dealt with severe spams was around 4 months ago. Right now, everything is fine in my ongoing war against annoying spams and shameless spammers.

 

I rarely ever get major attacks on my sites (and I haven't in the past either). A few small scale spammers usually break through at least once a month, but their messages are usually tidied up fairly swiftly.

 

Yea I still see alot of people using recaptcha but as mentioned its cracked so spam bots can bypass it, and here on AdminBB I uses the Q's & A's Registration fields, have been ever since recaptcha was cracked. Does a great job! By the way it wont help you either if you have easy questions like "5+10=?"set which most forums do.

 

I don't get any on IPB.

They auto ban them somehow I'm not sure of the process.

 

Well there is no such thing as never getting spam, you cant completely block them ever.

 

At one point in time, my forum got maybe 2 spammers a month, which were quickly taken care of. Now, I don't get any because that forum is dead...

 

Well just because its dead doesn't mean it wont get any, I actually see alot dead forums get hit by spam the most since there is no one to moderate, and all the sections are filled with spam advertisements and what not.

 

Well, I haven't gotten any spam since I stopped visiting for the most part. I'll check in every once in a while to see if anything has changed and there's never any spam.

 

Yea its good to check up as you will never know when spambots will strike lol.

Dashing: One every two or so months. - I use Q&A + nofollow sig links + StopForumSpam.com integration.

 

All the time, except my spam traps catch them and submit them automatically to spam databases.

 

Yea for me too, as I use StopForumSpam.com integration through a mod, and it automatically catches them and submits them. Probably one of the best spam databases.

 

I have had one spammer get through so far and I was even using Botscout. But that was 2 weeks ago and I haven't had it happen sense.

 

Not often I get spammers. I install modifications to stop it.

 

Modifications do help, but it doesnt completely stop it either. There is no way to stop spam, but to fight it
