I've posted when I've had a drink before.

It all depends on the person in my opinion if you can drink without it making you break the rules and it doesn't effect you doing your job I don't see an issue with it.

If it makes your posts messed up or effects the standard of your posts and what not then yea there would be an issue there I wouldn't go on my forums while I was smashed and unable to type that's irresponsible in my eyes.

    Not really lol.
Forums aren't a professional business though.
Well mine isn't anyway I was reffering to being drunk on my boards which is a general chat community.
I suppose if you run a more professional forum and class it as work then it's not OK.

The person i was referring to earns over $20,000 per month from his forum from what i have heard and he has even said as long as the ads are keeping me rich i do not care about anything else. He logged in and just banned people for the hell of it while he was drunk, he used to be a really cool guy until his forum became one of the leading forums in its niche. Now he doesn't even log in for weeks on end and expects all his staff to do everything..

That person is not a good administrator. Do people still even join that forum?

Back to subject: If a member is drunk, I won't worry about them as long as they aren't doing anything against the rules.

Yep he gets 100's of new members daily and 1000's of posts, his staff do a good job managing everything but he has lost alot of old timers on the forums including myself.

I agree with this. :) If you can't post, don't do it, or follow your community rules, then don't be on.

Suprisingly they are funny when posting; one member was soo drunk he was pressing the J on his keyboard with his face and when he woke up he saw "you have been banned" soon after contacting me and I unbanned him but put him under the Supervision usergroup

I don't see how you would know they are drunk unless they post it?
I've seen good users go nuts on the forums and get a temp ban, maybe they were under the influence of something?

I don't really have a beef with drunk members posting so long as they're not being aggressive. If they're just having a little fun I don't see the harm.

However, I do have an issue with 'under the weather' moderators using the mod tools. A couple of my mods drink, luckily we haven't run into any issues yet. *crosses fingers*

Even myself if I have a few drinks and drop in on my board I make it a point not to make and decisions or touch the ACP unless doing something positive like activating someone's account, password change request, etc.

I've seen this before it's more funny then serious. But I was a member on the forum and not staff so I couldn't possible tell you if it was problem or not.

Lol, the screen looks so blurry when you try to browse your community drunk. I've done it a few times, but I don't touch the ACP either nor do any major changes. Sometimes when I'm drunk, I'm in a very creative mood so new topics are flushed in.:P

PUI, or Posting Under the Influence, is a pervasive societal practice that the courts, the police, and the people should take seriously and punishment should be swift and severe for individuals caught, and convicted of it....Oh wait, that's DUI....sorry.

I think drunk posters may inject some humor into the forum mix. As long as they don't break the rules, who cares under what controlled (or uncontrolled) substance they are under?
