How many of you run more than one site or community? How do you cope? What do you think of those who run more than one?

    Post your thoughts here

I think running one is enough, I see some people having literally 5 sites and that tells me those people aren't serious about either of them. When opening AdminBB I was running a gaming forum at the same time but I closed it as I was serious about running AdminBB and at the time that forum was pretty big, and in no way I could give enough time to both, so I decided to close the gaming forum as I cant see myself as an adult in the future running a gaming forum while I could see myself running adminbb. Here is the announcement I had made last year

Its a big mistake I see forum owners making when running two or more sites when they dont even have the time to devote to either of them.

I tried running two forums one year and it didn't cut it for me. I had a Backstreet Boys forum and a religious forum. I gave both of those up because the going ons at both sites were just way too confusing and keeping things straight was almost impossible. So now I only run one forum, and this is the first forum I think I've ever been truly serious about, to be honest. I too have seen people with 5 + projects under their belts and that alone gets confusing, and that's just from a member's point of view!

I think running one forum is enough, however I am kind of backup staff at a few forums hosted within my host to mod installs, etc.

I think even just being a backup staff or even a sub would be too much for me. One forum is definitely enough.

I have been staff on a few sites at a time and it does get hectic going back and forth and staying updated on what's happening. I have also managed more than one site at a time but I tend to have a couple sites that run themselves while others may require more of my attention, this seems to have balanced it out for me very well.

Sounds like you got a busy schedule, I could run 3 or 4 forums and not have a problem running them but neither will be much of a success as I have so many that I cant focus on just one. The good thing about running one forum is that you can put all your time in it, and help is succeed, thats what I am doing with AdminBB. No plans for a another site in the time being.

I just run one site. I am staff at other sites too. I believe one site is enough. If you own more than one I believe both will just fall apart because you can't dedicate all of your time to both.

Yea, that is most likely to happen. Thats why when I opened AdminBB I closed my gaming forum which was doing good at the time. But if I look back on it.. AdminBB got much bigger and active quickly than it did. So it is working out for me, I would have a hard time managing two forums.

I personally couldn't run more than one it gets far to frustrating one keeps me busy enough.
I did have an issue in that I had an interest in far to many different niches and wanted a forum for each so eventually I just decided to run a General Discussion community I thought this was for best in the long run.

Yea, I would say you did the right thing.. or else it would've been hard. One is enough for me.

The only way I can manage more than one site is if I'm home all day and I don't have a job. That would give me enough time to put enough time into them.

I used to run multiple websites, but haven't done so since I was hacked. If you have the time to devote yourself to multiple sites, then by all means do it, but if you can't, then don't. It's not hard to manage multiple sites, or communities, you just need good time management.

Yea same here, but even if it was like that I would still put all my time into one forum, which I am doing.

I wouldn't be able to handle it even if I were unemployed in real life! Just way too much hassle and too much remembering what happened where/when etc.

I could, but I'd just put it all in one site and it would be twice the success than splitting up my time one two forums.

I suppose I could do a forum hybrid of sorts, but I'm happy with the genera I'm currently working with, so I don't see myself changing anything up anytime soon.

Im not talking about switching, im saying that instead of having 2 forums and splitting your time into both, just having one is best as you can put all that work just into that one forum, and it will do much better.

Yeah, that makes a lot more sense, and I agree. I for one would never try my luck at wanting to run more than one forum again. More trouble than it's worth is what it is.

Personnally I think anoyne who runds more then one forum is mad and but sites will suffer as you can't give them 100% dedication and that is what is needed for a forum a dedicated admin.
