Im interested to know how long you guys have been running your forums, I thought this would be an interesting topic as I saw it being asked over at xenforo.com

AdminBB opened in mid November and is about 5 months old. I have been gone from it for 3 months for personal problems but now im back. And im proud of my forum, and doing my best to get it back up to where it was.

The forum's been open since January, and the radio station officially started streaming a month ago yesterday.

Nice, I really like your forum. You might want to add it in your sig as members might want to see it.:)

Haha I like the radio streaming thing you got on the top, along with the "DJs on duty" instead of staff online now.
Back on topic, so how long have you guys been running your forums?

We're getting there! I don't know what we're gonna do for the one year anniversary yet... but there's still a few months to plan for it, so I'm sure we'll do something. What, I don't know yet....

If I can make a suggestion, I'd suggest a new theme to liven up things a bit... would help you guys.

Well, we are planning on getting a new theme down the road, like a second option kind of thing. I just haven't had the time to look on any phpBB sites for any decent themes yet. It's a tad overused, still, but I wouldn't mind having the Absolution theme again. I always did kind of like that one. But I think Ash said that that was the one that was too buggy at one point or something. But this was over a year ago so they've probably fixed the bugs by now... so who knows?

Yea absolution does look nice, and is overused heavily.

Anyways back on topic, I hope everyone keeps their faith in their sites and continues to run them, success dosent happen over night.

Unfortunately, though, way too many people find out the hard way that success doesn't happen over night, and that's why so many of them give up too easily and close their boards, because it's more than a nice theme and content to make your forum work at all, and sadly, many forum owners, especially the younger ones, don't seem to realize this. They look at successful sites like this one and Forum Promotion, and they think success comes through by staying up half the night to make everything look "perfect" and it just doesn't work out like that. Took me the best part of 4 years to figure that out, really, and I ended up learning that lesson the hard way.

Well said i figured that out too when i was younger... but giving up isnt an option.

I feel the only way giving up could be considered is if you honestly can't find the time to run a forum anymore: too many health problems, too many real life commitments get in the way to the point where you truly can't run it anymore. That, in my opinion, should be the only option.

6 years. Founded it January 30, 2005. Hard to believe, to be completely honest.
