None, I just left when vBulletin 4 came out, switched software and never logged in again.

None. Unlike you, I understand how to convey a salient point without coming across as a concern troll in every post.

    Twice. Both for dumb reasons...

One for asking for Forumunner Support after the ForumRunner support site couldn't help. (Then days after banning me they added a ForumRunner support forum on vb.com... yet I was still banned...)

Two banned for posting a private phone number in my signature... but it wasn't a private phone number it was the main Internet Brands Phone Number from the Internet Brands Contact Us Page.

Never banned but sent to coventry, which is actually worse. All my posts are invisible to everyone except admins and mods.

Yea, which is asinine. They know you can say things which are true and correct and factually accurate about some of the inner workings of Internet Brands, and the last thing they want is the unfiltered truth coming out.

I guess they care less about unfiltered truths than they do about me getting on their nerves at vB.com.;)

Equally ridiculous seeing as how there are quite a few "customers" whose only purpose in posting on vB.com is trolling. None of them are banned except the one who made a thread about it here.

I agree, it is much worse, it's a detestable function. Whoever was responsible for that action should be ashamed of themselves.

I'm not sure, I think the function is one that has its uses. Like for putting off trolls who thrive on reactions and know how to circumvent IP bans.

And the whole 'ignored by everyone' concept is a pretty interesting one, and one I sometimes think would be useful in real life. It'd certainly be a nice way to make attention seekers, terrorists and bullies less of an issue, by someone killing stone dead the one thing they depend on; other people's reactions/admiration/fear. Having someone completely be invisible to the rest of the planet would certainly destroy their soul...

Back to forums though, it makes me think that the next logical step beyond Tachy Goes to Conventry or Miserable Users would be some sort of IP/cookie based lotus eater machine type punishment. Like an internet equivalent to the Matrix, showing the troll or troublemaker exactly what they feared the forum would be like. Perhaps one that's literally dead or hacked, so they give up and think the forum isn't worth bothering with any more. Or I guess, make it look like its running vBulletin 5 complete with the slowness and bugs. That would certainly scare away many people...

It makes the mods feel important and powerful but can easily be spotted and bypassed.

Untrue. You were not banned for asking for Forum Runner support, you were banned for repeatedly defying site moderators who had already closed 3 or 4 threads and told you to stop making them. Big difference. One is your fault, one is not.

I was never told to stop making them you bozo.

I would have stopped if asked.

The ban reason on the screen said I was banned for posting a private phone number.

    Learn to read you jackass.

Any decent moderator would reinstate (if not already done) and apologize for their mistake in wrongly banning a member.
Especially as the phone number is posted in public.
This would however show that the mods there are not really gods, and this would not fit in with their inflated opinion of themselves.

As BirdOPrey5 has made a mistake and so have the other mods. I am sure he will do the right thing and reinstate you and ask the person who wrongly banned you to apologize. Any stand up mod would.

I fail to see how turning this into a flaming thread resolves anything.
In fact, it makes it seem as if there is nothing more substantive to the argument.
It's impossible to take anyone seriously when they can't form a cogent point without resorting to third grade insults.
Even if the point being made has any semblance of validity.
A site owner or administrator should know better.

So should a moderator on a support site towards a member and paying customer.
After all this IS what they are there for isn't it, to HELP members and customers.

When people do the right thing then they deserve a pat on the back, but when they do the wrong thing then a kick up the butt is in order.

Obviously the member feels aggrieved by the actions of the mod/s and feels the banning was in error, so it is the obligation of a legit mod to address the problem and admit his or her mistake when proven.

I find it curiously odd that you would side with the member without firsthand knowledge of any of the facts.
