So, how many forum owners here have removed posts count from displaying on the forums? Did it work out well for you? Or did you still show user's post counts? I personally wouldn't remove it because it shows users how many posts they are, and if they have posting goals, they know where they stand. But, how about you? I'm 50/50 on it. On XF I have likes received rather than post counts. Likes focuses on quality over quantity. On vBulletin, I'll probably have post counts again. Personally, I'd rather focus on quality.
I show them in the user profile, but I don't in the Postbit. I have other things that I have in the post bit and it gets a bit cluttered with the post count being there.
I wonder why you made this switch though, some users like having their post count displayed in postbit, but its also a good thing because those with low post counts won't feel bad.
It's a shame people with low posts counts feel that it makes them inferior and a bigger shame that people with big post counts feel it gives them bragging rights. I mentioned earlier that I do show them, but that's just because they're there by default and I don't have a great deal more I could put in there as a replacement. I'm trying to refrain from installing too many mods (thanks type mods ect.) currently, as I'm still unsure whether I want to upgrade the community to a paid script.

I know what you mean. I find that be unique though. Ya, its really something that you have to dig and figure out because its easy to get a new user posting more. Like, when they introduce themselves, you ask them questions, see how they're doing, etc, and help them feel more welcomed. I do that with all my new members, and usually after chatting with them - I see them replying to other topics on the community. It makes them feel more like family to other users, in my opinion.
I'm along the same lines here. I like on xenforo that the post count isn't shown by default but I also like it being shown on my vBulletin boards. I don't really care either way as a user, as an admin I guess I would rather hide them to keep things clean.
I like to see my post counts personally, because it shows off my activity on the forum, and I usually have signature links so it lets me know how much links I have on those forums as well.
I prefer them shown. I do understand why sometimes owners prefer them turned off, but I just don't think those reasons are large enough to go against the mainstream default of having them shown.
From a forumer point of view, I would rather want to see my post count even if its low than not see it at all. It gives me the goal to keep on providing helpful and relevant stuff to the forum where I'm at so that I can be on par with the old members. Its also better if there are member titles available depending on the number of posts you have. It encourages people to post more often.
