Zetaboards or Phpbb or Mybb?

MyBB, but zetaboards is really a host. MyBB and phpBB you have to host them yourself.

I thought Zetaboards was both a host and a forum software? Anyways, my vote goes for PHPBB. MyBB is too simple, and I've had more problems with Zetaboards than I can count. So PHPBB gets my vote anyday.

Its a free forum host using their own software.

Yet again another topic about software that just comes down to user preference.

I voted for Mybb but truth be known I do not like any of them. I get so disgusted with Mybb because adding a theme is a pain in the butt and I can never get it to work. Phpbb is ok but updating is also a pain in the butt. Free boards are extremely limited and limit your ability to do a lot that you could do with a paid host. Paid software is great in most respects but a lot of people cannot afford the high costs of these. I have also read that some people will not join certian forums that run some software and some will not even join a free forum.

Installing themes on MyBB is real easy, never had a problem. I also made my own theme also a while ago.

Some folks don't have a problem. Install in root, install in images what the heck! Why don't they make their themes where the install is all the same? I have had this installed now what 50 times maybe more the theme part disgust me so much I end up removing it from the server it maybe free but its not that great you have to go through an act of Congress to install a theme.

I like phpBB because it's easy to administer. myBB is easy to use and I've been registering at a lot of myBB powered forums but I really like how easy it is to edit parts of phpBB to work how you like.

That's true. Though recently I stumbled upon a free hosted forum site that uses MyBB. Yeah, I was pretty surprised cause most use SMF or phpBB. And, I'm pretty sure it's the only hosted forum site that uses MyBB.

I signed up to the site, just for the heck of it and cause the owner of the site offered me free ad credits. I figured why not.

Anyway, I wanted to try out MyBB software, in a risk free way, first before taking time to upload it to my own web space. Just to see if I like it. Not sure what to think so far of MyBB. The templates look OK, but nowhere near as professional as Xenforo or other paid forum software. The interface is nice. It's about on par with SMF, though I still like SMF better.

I like the SMF ad mod better than MyBB plug ins for ads. I'll have to do some more investigation into the subject. For sure, I like MyBB better than phpBB, at least from what limited contact I've had in the past with this particular software.

I've moved this over to the forum software section as it seems more appropriate. I'm going to say phpBB because I like what I can do with it, yes modding is a pain but it's what I enjoy doing.

I don't like the fact that ZB ripped out email notifications in favour for "in-line" notifications, and I've never been a fan of the way MyBB is styled.

Yea I would definitely go with phpbb or mybb over zetabaords any day, I like to self host everything as you get full control of everything.

I prefer phpBB the most. MyBB may have some nice mods and features, but phpBB has some awesome skins.

I've never tried Zetaboards. Nor do I plan to. I've heard some pretty negative things about it.

I just hope phpBB gets back on track as far as updates go, its slowly being abandoned.

I like phpbb from a user's point of view. I don't much like Mybb. Zetaboards is fun to play around with, in my opinion, so I'm going to say Zetaboards is my favorite of the three. ^>^
