There sometimes comes a time in a website's life, or communities' life, where paid content can be helpful - such as paying for reviews or things like that. So, have you ever paid for content? What type of content was it?

I have paid for posts, and I still do. Activity is not a problem here and money isn't either so why not get an extra boost? I dont mind it. But if you have a forum that relies on paid content to survive then you have a problem.

Never have, and probably never will as I like to be able to make content myself, and let members be there because they want to be there, and not because they have been paid to be there, etc.

Since you run a small forum it should help.

I have paid for posting and traffic. I will never pay for traffic again.

Why not for traffic? It really depends on if it will work not from where you buy it from.

I agree. I've paid for posts on my community as well - especially in the reviews section because I needed more reviews on certain games. It takes money to earn money.:agreed:

It destroys your Google rankings, you'll think that they won't notice, but believe me, they do.

Depends on what type of traffic, when I meant paying for traffic I bought adspace on other forums which Google doesn't have much of a problem with.

I once paid for posts on a forum I ran a few years ago, I also paid for an affiliate when I was running the same forum.

Agreed. I've never paid for content (I've just used post exchanges) but the services should only be used in the early stages of a forum. If you're using paid content well into your forum's life, you might want to rethink your strategy.

Post exchanges usually work out pretty good - depending on who you do your exchange with. I've had a few hundred or so posts from post exchanges alone, and not to mention how the exchanges usually make threads = win in the long run. I personally don't see anyone having a successful forum relying on paid posts only.

I've bought forums so yes, I have paid for content.
I've never used paid to post deals, although some of the forums I purchased had a few. :-/

How come you've never bought content? Sometimes it's a good idea to have a fresh eyes' perspective.

WHen you buy content(Not that i would, unless i got desperate enough), what exactly are you buying?

Like if you some obscure genre your forum is in does the content you buy pertain to the actual genere/niche or what?
I've seen something on this forum promotion site where people simply just had people come, register, post a few crap posts
    and that was that.

So what exactly ARE you paying for?
