Laptop or desktop computer?

Which is your first priority among of these two:-
1:Laptop or 2: Desktop Computer.

 

I plan to buy a new Desktop.But after I see a favorable Tax return.

I have 3 computers laying around.But not worth fixing up.Because one is 15 years and the other (Sony Vaio) is 12+ years old.The third one is a lemon.It is less than 3 years old.I finally got tired of it.And beat on it with my hand.I think I dislodged a part.Because it is even worse now.

The best computer I have owned is the Sony Vaio.It is still working.But very slow to load up and run.I suspect one of the two RAM chips is bad.Or the motherboard is simply worn out?

That is why a brand new one is what I will pursue.

I have never been hot for a Notebook.Never saw the need for one.

 

I have two desktops and a laptop, I rarely use the laptop (I hate small screens).

 

Gosh that "small screen" of today is larger than the desktop monitor of the late 1990's.

When you have 2 LCD screens hooked on your PC (one is 27 inch and the other one 24 inc) 15 inch looks so damn small (and hard to work with). I remember my first desktop monitor, it had 17inch.

 

Laptop is limited by the very selling point it runs on.Portability.A handy unit to carry around as a businessman or student.

Thus having screens larger than a 17" or 20" begins to make it deskbound quality all over again.The weight and the bulk starts to make it less and less attractive.

 

Well, in about 2-3 years tablets will replace netbooks, so who knows what future brings.

 

Yes, but at the moment tablets can't really fully replace a netbook.

 

Prefer to use desktops most of the time, larger screen and easier to work with.

 

Working via a laptop is not exactly within my skillset. I have dual monitors on the desktop, with an ergonomic keyboard, and those are the two things that make moving from desktop to laptop a pain in my rear end. Also, the mouse. You never realize how essential the actual mouse hardware is until you have to use one of those infernal touchpads while working.

So, I go for desktops first. Always. And I love mine... bought it April last year and I've not had one single complaint.

 

I've owed a few laptops over the years, never was able to get to grips with enjoying using them though, even using a mouse with them all.

Laptop is better from desktop computer.

 

Due to my lack of space, I'm confined to a laptop, but i generally buy more powerful laptops such as gaming laptops so I have closer to a desktop experience.

 

I sold my computer 7 years ago and bought a laptop

 

My household has both. I think it depends on what you want really. I prefer a PC as I can customise the hardware and upgrade it easily as I wish. Especially for gaming.

At times I do miss the portability and freedom of a laptop though that my wife has. I think for the most part people using their laptops mostly use them for internet browsing, editing documents and for viewing media. For that, a cheap laptop with a lightweight Linux distro will do just fine.
